The
Arbor Creek Middle School Band Program received two prestigious national awards
this past December at The Midwest Clinic: The Sudler Cup and the Programs of
Excellence Blue Ribbon Award.
The
Sudler Cup
is presented by the John Philip Sousa Foundation. The purpose of the Sudler Cup
is to identify, recognize and honor junior high school and middle school
concert band programs that have demonstrated particularly significant high
standards of excellence in concert activities over a period of several years. This 34-year old award has acknowledged only 57 bands previously from Texas, North Carolina, South Caroline, Wisconsin, Georgia, Florida, Nebraska, Virginia, Hawaii, Alabama, Kansas, Illinois, Utah, and Louisiana.
The
Programs of Excellence Blue Ribbon Award is presented by the
National Band Association. The National Band Association is dedicated to the
attainment of a high level of excellence for bands and band music. The NBA
National Programs of Excellence Blue Ribbon Award recognizes quality programs
of all levels. Band programs and their educators are honored regionally and
nationally through this initiative. The ACMS Band is the only middle school to be recognized this year, and only the 7th middle school to be recognized in the history of the award.
