On Sunday July 24, The Arbor Creek Honors Band placed 5th in the State of Texas in the Texas Music Educators Association State CC Honor Band Competition! The state is divided into 28 regions and 14 areas. The process began in early June with 106 of the state's best CC middle school bands submitting recordings to win the honor of representing their region. Two bands from each Region were then selected to go on to the area level of competition. At area those 56 bands were then narrowed down to 14, and those bands were judged today in San Antonio at the Texas Bandmasters Association Convention.
Mrs. Cooley and I are so proud of the Arbor Creek kids for this incredible accomplishment. It is a wonderful tribute to their abilities and talent, and to the wonderful parents, faculty and staff at ACMS. To come in fifth in the State of Texas is in a word, amazing.
Every chance they got, the band represented themselves and all of us in great fashion. This year will serve as a standard for all the bands that follow. Thanks again for your support, and if you see one of last year's 2010-2011 Honors Band kids, be sure to congratulate them. This is truly a wonderful accomplishment!
