Marty Nelson

Marty Nelson

Marty Nelson, a native of Fairfax, Virginia, moved to Texas in 1976 to attend the University of North Texas where he earned both a Bachelors and Masters degree in Music Education. Mr. Nelson is currently in his sixth year at Arbor Creek Middle School in Carrollton, where his Honors Band is a consistent UIL Sweepstakes award winner.

Prior to teaching in Lewisville I.S.D. Marty taught at Coppell Middle School East for 13 years. While at Coppell East, his band was a T.M.E.A State Honor Band Finalist in 2000 and won UIL Sweepstakes every year. In 2005, Mr. Nelson was named Secondary Teacher of the Year for the Coppell I.S.D. From 1985-1992 Marty directed band at Shackelford J.H. in Arlington, Texas. The Shackelford Honors Band placed third in the T.M.E.A. Honor Band competition in 1992. Mr. Nelson also taught in the Houston area for the Spring Branch and Aldine school districts.

His professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Music Adjudicators Association. Mr. Nelson is an active adjudicator and clinician throughout the state.

Kim Cooley

Kim Cooley

Kim Cooley is in her ninth year as assistant director of bands at ACMS. Her responsibilities include: directing the Symphonic Band, assisting the Concert and Honors Band and teaching beginning flute, saxophone, double reed and low brass classes.

The Symphonic Band under Mrs. Cooley has been awarded numerous 1st divisions and Sweepstakes trophies. The 05-06, 06-07, 07-08, 09-10, and 10-11 Symphonic Bands were awarded "Best In Class" at the Springfest Music Festivals.

Prior to her appointment she was a graduate assistant and conductor of the University Wind Ensemble at West Texas A&M, under Dr. Gary Garner, where she earned her bachelor and masters degree.

Her professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators' Association and Texas Bandmasters Association.

Scott Baldwin

Scott BaldwinMr. Baldwin came to the L.I.S.D in the fall of 2002 and is the percussion coordinator for the Hebron cluster (Arbor Creek MS, Creek Valley MS, and Hebron HS).  A graduate of the University of Louisville,Mr. Baldwin also holds two Masters degrees in Music Education and percussion performance from the University of Florida.

Under his direction, the Hebron High School Drumline has quickly become one of the most respected ensembles in the North Texas area.
